How did my love for sewing start?
After completing my Interior design and curtains, blinds and soft furnishings studies I realised that I actually enjoyed sewing just as much as bringing an empty space to life so I started having a go at simple projects.
I started making kitchen textiles, soft furnishings and accessories but wanted to take it a step further after having friends and family asking me to sew them something for a gift or for themselves.
I did my market research and realised we were having more vintage tea rooms, styles and businesses popping up as well as the love for handmade items. I’m an individual that likes handmade British items myself and appreciates the skills we are loosing.
So I joined Birmingham University ‘Interiors and Lifestyle Futures’ to set-up a business making ‘British handmade figure flattering aprons and waistcoats that can be customised and personalised to your specifications.(Including company logo & colours)’
Jodie Laura designs was born!
I help individuals through making figure flattering garments to help them feel elegant and can be confident in anything they do.
Customer orders
Review: Thank you, i’m chuffed with it. I’ll be in touch for more aprons when I need them most definitely. And I may need waist coats and short pinnys for waiters. I’ll be advertising for afternoon teas at weddings and functions this year so will need items for that at some point!
It was so rewarding seeing my customers wearing their aprons at events, receiving compliments or buying them as gifts.
Looking back at all these pictures puts a smile on my face and wonder if I could have pushed it further but then again I wouldn’t be making my own clothes, for me to enjoy and this is what I’m loving at this moment in time. xx
